Podcasts

I was pleasantly surprised by the success of podcasts as they offered a format for intelligent and intimate explorations of ideas.

I’m involved in two podcasts, and quite enjoy listening to others as well.

Although Matt and I have experimented with many formats for our comedy, the podcast is a natural fit. Ideally everything would be out on vinyl LP’s and we’d have a sketch TV show – but that’s another story – so in the mean time there is The Smooth End of the Pineapple podcast. You can listen to us on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Podcasts, Podbean, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio and Podchaser.

And then on a more serious note there’s Gymea. In 1999 I self published a poetry book drawn from things I’d written from 1988 to 1999. I think I did 70 copies – I gave some away, sold some – some shops even stocked them – and I’ve got just a few left. One day it dawned on me that it would be great to read the poems and discuss them in a podcast. The selection is all about love, relationships, spirituality, personal growth – and I guess just a metaphysical take on life. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think people who really like that stuff will really like this podcast. All those poems are just a product of my trying to understand life and live, and there’s some hard won lessons and growth in there ~ and of course some failures too. I have plans to expand it and read and discuss other metaphysical poetry too. If you think you might be interested you can listen to the podcast on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Podbean, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, Player FM, Podchaser and Boomplay.
