In 1910-11 South Africa toured Australia for the first time. 5 tests were played and Australia won 4-1. The South African side played Toowoomba at the Old Showgrounds on Nov 30 and Dec 1, and won by an innings and 11 runs.

Toowoomba Captain Barbour batting against SJ Pegler bowling for South Africa. The timing of this photo is perfect – Barbour’s pose is very reminiscent of Victor Trumper’s famous straight drive photo from 1905.
